Dryer Fire – Center Street - August 18, 2004

On August 18, 2004 at 7:48 am Companies 1 and 2 were dispatched to a dryer fire at 153 Center Street. C3 (DFC Craig Weston) arrived first, reported “smoke showin” and established Command. Arriving moments later was Engine 1, Engine 2, Tanker 1 and Rescue 1. Engine 1 crew advanced a 1.75″ line in the front door, extinguished the fire in the dryer, and power vented using the 1.75″ line. Rescue 1 crew set up a positive pressure fan and cleared out the remaining smoke on the 1st and 2nd floors. Thermal Imagers were used to check for extension. A textbook job by the 3 Officers and 12 Firefighters at the scene. (Photo’s by Gerry Farquharson)
