Hurricane Irene – Town of Carver - August 28, 2011

About 30 Officers, Firefighters and Fire Dispatchers staffed all three Fire Stations for 36 hours straight during the peak of Hurricane Irene’s strong winds. Firefighters responded to about 80 emergencies during the storm. These emergencies ranged from wires down, transformer fires, large trees on homes to mutual aid coverage to the Town of Wareham. Although many places in Town lost power, including mine, I would like to commend the efforts of all of Carver’s Public Safety Departments and the DPW for all working together and trying to mitigate as many emergencies as possible in a very short amount to time.
