Injured Snowmobiler Rescue – Myles Standish State Forest (Photo’s by Lieutenant Eric Weston and Intern Firefighter John Rota) - February 18, 2014

While fire crews were finishing up at a structure fire at 73 Main Street, Company’s 1 and 3 were dispatched to a reported injured snowmobiler in the Dunham/Luncas Road area of the Myles Standish State Forest.  C3, Breaker 27, Breaker 28, Car 2 and Forestry 25 were dispatched.  C3 established a unified command post at the intersection of Cranberry Road and West Line Road.  Fire crews using Forestry 25 assisted Carver EMS by transporting Firefighters and paramedics deep in the wooded area, in search of the injured person.  Crews located the snowmobiler, assessed her injuries and transported the injured person to an awaiting ambulance on the main road.  All three facets of Carver’s Public Safety (Police, Fire and EMS) worked seamlessly together in locating and assisting the injured person deep in the woods. A special thanks to Pubic Safety Dispatcher Mike Shaw for working with the  injured person by phone, narrowing down their location and assisting Fire Dispatcher Bill Harriman and fire personnel with good information.  (Photo’s by Lieutenant Eric Weston and Intern Firefighter John Rota)
