F. Weston Memorial Scholarship Scholarship Regulations ELIGIBILITY A
member or past member, in good standing, who has served the Carver Fire
Department or the Carver Firefighters Association for a minimum of five
(5) years, or immediate family member, (i.e. son, daughter, niece,
nephew, stepchildren, grandchildren, or spouse).
The applicant must have been a resident of Carver throughout the
four years of their High School education. They must currently be
pursing undergraduate or graduate studies, technical school program at
an accredited Institution. Currently enrolled as a full time or part
time student and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on
a 4.0 scale or a “C” average for the applicant pursing an academic
degree. SELECTION
CRITERIA Academic Standing – Statement of interest including personal,
academic and career goals, as well as involvement in extracurricular
activities, including community and volunteer activities. Two letters of recommendation – One letter should be from a
teacher, employer, or a leader from the community familiar with you and
your goals. The other letter should be from a member or former member of
the Carver Fire Department. If
it is not possible to provide a letter from a member of the fire
service, please attach an explanation APPLICANTS The
CFD member or immediate family member must have satisfactorily completed
their first year of college or technical school. Students continuing in
a degree program or technical school program may apply. APPLICATIONS Application
forms will be available on April 30th of each year and may be

Completed applications are due by June
30th of each year. Applications
should be mailed to: Carver Firefighters Association, Scholarship Committee

postcard will be sent to each applicant, acknowledging receipt of your
application. The award notification of this one time scholarship will be
made by the Committee by July 30th.
There will be a public notification of the receipt of the
Scholarship in several local papers, including:
The Brockton Enterprise, The Patriot Ledger and The Carver
Reporter. Those not
receiving the Scholarship are encouraged to apply again the following
year. Applications that do
not meet the requirements or are not received by June 30th (postmark will not be taken into consideration) will be disregarded. The
Committee will consist of three (3) members:
The President of the Carver Firefighters Association or their
designee, The Chief of the Department or their designee and the Chairman
of the Scholarship Committee. This is an annual Committee, with
selection to the committee to be determined in January of each year. AMOUNT
OF THE SCHOLARSHIP One
(1) five hundred dollar ($500.00) Scholarship will be awarded. The
amount is subject to change upon recommendation of the Scholarship
Committee and a majority vote of the membership of the Carver
Firefighters Association. NO
