2024 Apparatus Competition – CFD Headquarters (Photo’s by Future CFD Firefighter, Matt Heath) - August 5, 2024

Every summer, the Carver Fire Department challenges its three companies to put forward their greatest talents and make the apparatus the best it can be. Painting, organizing, waxing, cleaning, and polishing, hundreds of hours are poured into the beautification of our three front-line engines. The decades long tradition only gets harder, as the trucks get older each year, and new types of equipment are constantly added.

When you factor in the heat and humidity of the last few weeks, the serious TLC these rigs received is phenomenal! The extremely hard work of the firefighters is on full display, with each truck gleaming with pride, dedication, and determination.
Choosing a winner is no easy task. We enlisted the help of 6 impartial judges, each using a score card as a guide to establish the finest truck in the fleet. You can see first hand- there are no losers here. All three trucks look as good as the day they arrived in Carver 8 years ago. Our team is stronger, and our equipment is as prepared as ever to handle any emergency.

The judging this year was extremely close! Out of approximately 300 total points scored, there was only a ten point difference between 1st and 3rd.
First Place for the 2024 Carver Firefighter’s Association Apparatus Competition goes to
ENGINE TWO!  Congratulations to Company 2 for winning this year’s award.

The trophy was donated by our sister department, the Syosset New York Fire Department, in memory of 4 of their Firefighters who had answered their last alarm. One of those was Robert “Trot” Middendorf, father of our own Bob Middendorf.
