MFA Flashover Course – Station 1 - October 4, 2009

Flashover is defined as “the temperature point at which the heat in an area or region is high enough to ignite all flammable material simultaneously”.20 Carver firefighters spent a Sunday morning in a classroom learning the dangers of, warning signs and how to avoid being caught in a flashover. They then spent the afternoon feeling the heat and observing actual flashovers under controlled conditions in the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Flashover Trailer.
