MVA with Entrapment – Cranberry Road - July 22, 2011

Company’s 1 and 3 were dispatched, bringing Car 1, Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue 1 and approximately 20 firefighters to the scene. Upon arrival, Lieutenant Chris Vincent established Command with Chief Weston assisting him as the Operations Officer. After a brief size up of the incident, Carver EMS personnel established the need for a Med Flight Helicopter to be brought to the scene for patient transport. Carver Engine 1 was diverted to a landing zone in the Deer Hill Lane area of town (LZ #12). Under the Command of Lieutenant Eric Weston the landing zone was secured with Firefighters positioned at the ends of any residential driveways, roadways were blocked off and direct communications were established with the Med-Flight helicopter. Once the landing zone was secured the helicopter landed and awaited patient transport. Back at the MVA scene, Firefighters from Rescue 1 and Engine 3 used the Jaws of Life to free the trapped driver and assist EMS personnel will in patient removal.
