Vehicle in the Water – Ward Street - January 2, 2016

Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle in the water at the entrance to the South Meadow Village.  Stations 1, 2 and 3 were dispatched due to the unknown life safety issue.  While responding, it was determined that the elderly occupant self extricated from the vehicle.  Firefighters used floating booms to contain floating hazards and awaited the removal company.  The towing company used their skills to amazingly navigate the vehicle over the rocks and back to dry land without rupturing the fuel tank or oil pan.  A certain tragedy was averted here!
