Breakfast with Santa - December 4, 2016

Breakfast with Santa is a special event for kids big and small.  After a great breakfast cooked by our Firefighter elves the kids made snowman decorations (a big thank you to Jan Santos), while awaiting the arrival of that special guy.  All the little kids receive a gift and a chance to visit with Santa.  This year’s crowd was the biggest ever! Large Debris Fire – Fuller Street - November 23, 2016

Fire Company's 1 and 3 responded to a large debris fire off of Fuller Street Wednesday evening.  Crews using Breakers 27 and 29 worked the fire, while Engine 2 and crews established a water supply.  Firefighters were on scene for about 3 hours while the property owner used heavy machinery to dig out the burning debris and firefighters extinguishing it. MVA Entrapment – South Meadow Village - September 14, 2016

Firefighters from Company 1 and 3 worked an MVA entrapment in the South Meadow Village area of town.  On arrival, crews found a small bus type vehicle with the driver heavily entrapped.  Firefighters worked for 30 minutes with numerous Jaws of Life tools, sawzalls, and saws to remove the vehicles doors, roll cage, seat and windshield to free the driver.  Thankfully there were no passengers onto bus. UTV Rescue – Hall Bog - August 14, 2016

Carver Police and EMS made a special request for Forestry 25 and Firefighters to assist them in removing a patient along a wooded trail in North Carver.  Firefighters were able to drive Forestry 25 into the patient, load them on a portable stokes basket and then drive the patient out of the woods were Carver EMS could transport. MVA Entrapment – Wareham Street - July 14, 2016

What could have been a horrific MVA off of Wareham Street late yesterday, turned more positive.  A single vehicle veered off the road, taking down a utility pole, with all the poles wires and fuses coming down on the vehicle with the driver trapped inside.  Eversouce was called as a high priority to cut the power, while Firefighters worked among the dangerous conditions to free the driver.  Luckily, the power was determined to be off as a result of the crash and the driver was safety removed by Fire, Police and EMS personnel. Plymouth County Fire Towers spotted a possible Brush Fire in the Federal Road/Hammond Street location of South Carver alerting our Fire Dispatch.  Fire Company’s 1 and 3 with Brush Breakers 27 and 28, Engine 3, Tanker 1 and Cars 1 and 3 responded on the initial alarm.  Once on scene, it was determined the fire was on top of the large landfill.   Over 50 Firefighters worked for several hours to extinguish the deep seated fire.  Mutual Aid tankers were called...

Firefighters Clambake – Carver Sportsman’s Club - June 26, 2016

This past Sunday, the Carver Firefighters Association held it’s 53rd annual clambake. The event is sold out every year and the money raised funds scholarships and other civic commitments.  The Clambake is a lot of work, but a big hit with the 420 people who pay to eat traditional New England clambake fare. New Engine 1 Construction Pictures - April 22, 2016

Annual Brush Fire Drill – Plymouth/Carver Airport - April 17, 2016

Deputy Germaine, our Officer staff and some really good friends of CFD organized our annual Brush Fire Drill at the Plymouth/ Carver Airport this past Sunday.  This year the drill was the largest ever with 18 communities, about 170+ Firefighters utilizing 24 Bursh Breakers and numerous UTVs.  The 2 mile long off road course allows Officers/Firefighters to practice driving the large Brush Breakers and smaller Forestry Units under simulated wildfire conditions, sharpening their driving techniques.  Firefighters operating on the rear...

MVA Entrapment – Main Street - April 14, 2016

Fire Company's 1 and 3 responded to an MVA with a car into a tree and the driver trapped in the vehicle on Main street in Carver.  Crews from Rescue 1 and Engine 1 quickly used the Jaws of Life to force open the drivers door allowing Carver EMS to remove the patient.  (Photo's by Retried Chief Bill Harriman)

MVA Entrapment – Pond Street - April 6, 2016

Fire Company's 1 and 2 were dispatched to an MVA with person trapped in the vehicle off of Pond Street. Cars 1 and 3, Rescue 1, Engine's 1 and 2 and Breaker 29 responded on the call.  Firefighters worked with Carver EMS using the Jaws of Life to remove the vehicles roof, windshield and doors to free the trapped passenger.  This was the fifth MVA Entrapment of the week, with three being fatal. MVA Entrapment – Tremont Street - March 31, 2016

Firefighters from Companies 1 and 3 worked an MVA with entrapment on Tremont Street in South Carver.  The driver veered off the road into a wooded area rolling the vehicle on its side.  Firefighters worked with Carver EMS and Police stabilizing the vehicle and using rescue equipment to remove the roof and windshield, gaining access to the patient.  From there, Firefighters responded to a stove fire and then to multiple wire down calls and brush fires throughout the day. Chimney Fire – Canterbury Drive - March 22, 2016

Firefighters from Companies 1 and 3 worked a chimney fire that had extended into the walls and hearth area of a home off of Canterbury Drive.  This late night fire could have been far more serious if the homeowner had not been awakened by an odd smell in the home.  Firefighters carefully opened up wall areas around the built-in wood stove and used air chisels off our Rescue 1 to dissemble the brick hearth.  The fire was stopped prior to reaching the second floor. Indoor Dive Drill – Duxbury Percy Walker Pool - March 12, 2016

Members of our Dive Team participated in an indoor pool dive drill at the Percy Walker Pool In Duxbury.  This drill has become an annual training exercise, where CFD divers can practice needed search and rescue techniques over the winter, in a controlled environment, when ponds are frozen.  This is also an opportunity for potential new divers to try SCUBA and join the team, as the drill is open to all our firefighters.  (Photo's by Deputy Eric Germaine)

Ice Rescue/Dog through the Ice – Wenham Pond - February 17, 2016

A resident off of Wenham Pond called the fire station directly this week stating that her dog was trapped on the icy pond.  Firefighters from Company 1, who were at the station preforming their monthly truck checks, responded for her calls of assistance.  Firefighters utilized Rescue 2 with our Hovercraft and Rescue 1 with Firefighters in survival suits.  Once on scene, firefighters used night vision binoculars to locate the dog which was about 800' off shore, broken through the ice...

Stove Fire with Extension – Purchase Street - February 3, 2016

Company's 1 and  2 were toned out for a stove fire with possible extension to an interior wall of large house off of Purchase Street.  Engine 1, Engine 2, Tanker 1 and Rescue 1 were dispatched.  On arrival, Captain Bill Froehlich encountered a moderates smoke condition when opening the front door.  The incident was upgraded to a possible structure fire, adding Engine 3, Breaker 28 and Car 2 to the response.  Firefighters were able to quickly remove the built in wall oven and extinguish the fire behind that had extended to the upper cabinets.  The home was...

Vehicle in the Water – Ward Street - January 2, 2016

Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle in the water at the entrance to the South Meadow Village.  Stations 1, 2 and 3 were dispatched due to the unknown life safety issue.  While responding, it was determined that the elderly occupant self extricated from the vehicle.  Firefighters used floating booms to contain floating hazards and awaited the removal company.  The towing company used their skills to amazingly navigate the vehicle over the rocks and back to dry land without rupturing the...
