In the early morning hours, the Carver 9-1-1 dispatch center received an automated call from an Apple Watch, indicating a motor vehicle crash had occurred. The dispatcher was able to communicate with the lone occupant of the vehicle and determined the location and nature of the accident. Carver Police Department officers and Carver Firefighters from Companies 1 and 3 were dispatched to the scene in South Carver, where they found a vehicle that had left the roadway and was partially submerged in Crane Brook. The driver was able to exit the vehicle unharmed. As a result of the crash, fluids were leaking from the vehicle and fire crews quickly worked to contain the spill. Representatives from the cranberry company that owns the property also assisted. CFD remained on scene until the vehicle was removed by Almeida Towing. The MA DEP was amongst the response team, as well as a private spill cleanup firm. (Photo’s by Fire Chief, Craig Weston)
