Today’s brief but intense thunderstorm kept Carver Firefighters busy with simultaneous fires. Around 3:40pm, Companies 1 and 3 responded to a house struck by lightning. Crews found a smoke condition, a damaged chimney, and charred wood but confirmed no serious fire. As the members were beginning to return to service, fire dispatch alerted Company 1 and 2 of another lightning strike and fire on Center St at 3:58pm Due to Engine 1’s crew still working on the first call, Engine 3 and Tanker 2 from Company 3 were immediately cleared from fire #1 and responded to the next incident, along with the remaining Company 1 and 2 apparatus. The second fire involved a large outbuilding, brush, and trees. Firefighters from all 3 Companies were put to work extinguishing and overhauling the various fires. Thanks to Plymouth Fire Department for providing station coverage at our HQ during the incidents. As always, our public safety team of Carver EMS and Carver Police Department were on scene providing much-needed support. (Photo’s by Firefighter, Steve Falconer)
