It all started about 18 months ago with Deputy Germaine and local resident / grant writer / volunteer Irene Winkler burning the midnight oil preparing a grant request to the U.S. Fire Administration Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to fund new structural and forestry protective clothing for all department members. Six months later the Town is awarded $175, 865.00. (great job Irene & Eric). Then 9 months of hard work by a committee comprised of Officers & Firefighters representing all 3 stations meeting with different vendors and creating purchase specifications.
