Fire Companies 1 and 3 were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the area of West Line and Federal Pond Road in the Myles Standish State Forest. Due to the remote location, and extremely heavy fire load in the state forest, a special mutual aid response (Myles Standish Response Zone Activation) was activated to bring additional mutual Brush Breakers to the scene. Crews from Carver Breaker 27 and 28 quickly worked each flank of the fire. An additional Carver Breaker 26 and Plymouth Breaker 172 were also brought into the scene to assist with the extensive overhaul of the wooded area. Crews from Carver Engine 2 and Tanker 2 established a water supply within the Federal Furnace Cranberry Company to refill the breakers close the scene. Any wildfires within the 15,000-acre State forest have the potential to grow very quickly and the quicker we can get multiple assets on it eh better chance we have of stopping the fire early.
