During the month of November CFD Company’s focused on Chimney Fires as their monthly drill topic. Our new Training Facility was designed to include a Chimney Fire Prop. Firefighters can start a small smoldering fire in the lined fireplace on the first floor, while crews extend ladders to the roof, lowering a chimney fire line through the built in flue, clearing obstacles and extinguishing the fire. Secondarily fire crews use thermal imagers inside the building to check for any extension. The realistic prop gives new and veteran firefighters the chance to freshen their skill in regards to fires they will probably be responding to this winter.
