The Drill schedule for this month calls for each Company to train on MVA Operations/Hazards and Entrapments. Company 2 put together a back to basics MVA Entrapment Drill involving two motor vehicles. Firefighters responded as if it was a real MVA Entrapment (no lights/sirens) with Engines 2 and 4, Rescue 1 and Breaker 29, to the rear of the Training Facility where they were presented with an MVA scenario. Firefighters used Jaws of Life tools, window saws, stabilization cribbing and a variety of rescue tools to pry doors, remove roofs and stabilize the vehicles. Firefighters also simulated an actual car fire while the entrapment drill was going on. Timing for Company 2 Drill couldn’t have been better, for as the drill was finishing up, Firefighters were toned out to a very serious MVA Entrapment on Tremont Street. Firefighters used all their skills to assist Carver EMS, Wareham EMS and Wareham Fire in removing a patient that later passed away. (Photo’s by Assistant Deputy Chief, Jesse Boyle)
