During the month of November all CFD Company’s focused on Chimney Fires as their monthly drill topic. Our new Training Facility was designed to include a Chimney Fire Prop. Firefighters can start a small smoldering fire in the lined fireplace on the first floor, while crews extend ladders to the roof, lowering a chimney fire line through the built in flue, clearing obstacles and extinguishing the fire. Secondarily fire crews use thermal imagers inside the building to check for any...

The CFD Dive Team did some underwater pumpkin carving at their monthly drill. The pumpkin carving drill has pretty much become and annual event for the dive team. Although they have a lot of laughs, wrestling with a pumpkin underwater and seeing how each carving came out, it does help teach underwater dexterity skill. Word has it the water did not turn red, that of course is a good thing. (Photo's by Retired Chief Bill Harriman, Deputy Germaine and Divemaster...

Our first Movie Night was considered a success! We had about 30 CFD Children attend the event. All were treated to a unbelievable candy table set up by Lisa Boyle, homemade popcorn, movie trivia games with prizes and of course the movie “MOANA”. It was a great night and we will definitely do it again, probably closer to the winter holidays! (Photo's by our Comma Lady)
Big props to the Carver Police Department for organizing a very successful “National Night Out” for all of Carvers Public Safety to interact with residents of our town. Our Fire Department, along with Carver EMS, Sheriffs Department, Environmental Police and others were invited to participate in the event, geared to promoting public safety. It was hard to get a handle on the number of people that attended, but I think it would be fair to say well over 1,000. The...
