Deputy’s Drill / Simulated Structure Fire – 75 Main Street - July 20, 2005

Local developer Buz Artiano of New England Architectural Builders, offered the Carver Fire Department the use of a building which was about to be torn down to make way for a new commercial project. On a sweltering hot night when most people are thinking of kicking back with a brew and sitting in front of the air conditioner, about 40 members of the Carver Fire Department along with a “mutual aid” Engine and crew from the Plymouth Fire Department, went to work on a simulated building fire at the old Carver House Restaurant at 75 Main Street. Using the departments smoke machine and mannequins, firefighters performed training evolutions over and over, even cutting vent holes in the roof.
