At Sunday’s recent Dive Drill, divers and support personnel got to back to basic conducting a real life scenario on how fast the team could be activated, respond as a functioning/in service team, enter the water, and successfully find and rescue/recover a simulated item that was missing under the water. The team did very well with a 20 minute time recorded to find a 7″ dog toy placed well off shore. This included the time it took for members to get to the station and respond to a pond 2 miles away. This benchmark will be critiqued and constantly tried to be improved upon through future training’s. At the conclusion of scenario, the team start training on a recently purchased Ice Rescue Sled that will go in service this winter. The Ice Sled will be used to compliment our Department Hovercraft as a second means to rescue someone that potentially has through the ice. Once the Dive Team is properly trained, they will take the lead on training the rest of the department on how to use the new sled. Great job Team!
