Firefighters from Companies 1 and 3 worked a chimney fire that had extended into the walls and hearth area of a home off of Canterbury Drive.  This late night fire could have been far more serious if the homeowner had not been awakened by an odd smell in the home.  Firefighters carefully opened up wall areas around the built-in wood stove and used air chisels off our Rescue 1 to dissemble the brick hearth.  The fire was stopped prior to reaching the second floor.
