On Sunday 6/6/04 twenty four CFD Officers and Firefighters left Carver at 6:00 am for the Barnstable County Fire Training Academy in Hyannis. Upon arrival, they proceeded to battle numerous live fires in a state of the art “burn building”. Scenarios such as cellar fires, one room, two room, and 3 room fires were practiced repeatedly by the crews. “Victims” were rescued and “firefighter down” procedures were practiced under live conditions utilizing our recent SCBA upgrades, Rapid Intervention Team Kits and Thermal Imaging Camera’s. These evolutions build confidence in ourselves, our fellow Firefighters, and our equipment. It should be noted that 15 Carver Firefighters agreed to stay in Town and be available that day, should they be needed while the crew was out of Town. (Photo’s by Firefighter Rob Reardon)
