Fire crews from Company 2 sharpened their skills on Chimney Fires this past weekend. Our Training Facility was designed to include a Chimney Fire Prop. Firefighters can start a small smoldering fire in the lined fireplace on the first floor, while crews extend ladders to the roof, lowering a chimney fire line through the built-in flue, clearing obstacles, and extinguishing the fire. Secondarily fire crews use thermal imagers inside the building to check for any extension. The realistic prop gives new and veteran firefighters the chance to freshen their skills in regards to fires they will probably be responding to this winter.
