MVA with Entrapment – South Main Street - October 25, 2014

Company’s 1 and 3 (Engine’s 1 and 3, Rescue 1, Breaker 28 and Cars 1 and 3) were dispatched to a serious MVA with entrapment in the area of 120 South Main Street, directly across for our Station 3.  On arrival, Deputy Germaine assumed Command confirming multiple wires down and a single motor vehicle accident with patient trapped inside the vehicle.  Firefighters under the watchful eye of Safety Officer Bob Telless worked quickly under overhead live wires, with chainsaws to remove trees and heavy brush from around the vehicle, allowing Carver EMS to evaluate and treat the patient.  Fire crews from Rescue 1 and Engine 3  were at the ready with the Jaws of Life if needed. Once all the large trees were removed, access to the patient was gained.  Fire crews from Rescue 1 remained on scene assisting Carver Police with lighting while the vehicle was removed.
