Structure Fire – Coles Mill Road (Photo’s by Retired Firefighter, Steve Blanchard) - January 25, 2022

Fire Companies 1, 2 and 3 were dispatched to a reported structure fire off of High Street in our North Carver District.  On arrival, Carver C2 reported a 1 ½ story wood frame with heavy smoke showing, declaring a working fire.  Fire crews from Engine 2 stretched two fire attack lines, one to the rear basement bulkhead and one to the front of the structure (side A) for fire attack.  Fire crews entered the basement encountering a heavy fire load with possible extension to the first floor and attic area.  The fire was quickly brought under control in the basement, while fire crews from Engine 1 and Rescue 1 worked the fire on the first floor checking for extension and conducting primary and secondary searches.  Fire crews from Engine 3 established a water supply at Carver water supply 2-14, located behind the Shaw’s Supermarket, refilling Tanker 1.  Accountability and Rehab was established by our Safety Officer and Carver EMS, keeping firefighters hydrated and ready for action.  Big thank you to Carver Police for keeping the roadway clear for firefighters to operate safely and to Police Chief Marc Duphily for shuttling fire equipment to our firefighters around the scene.  Team work at it’s finest!  All occupants were able to exit the building, with minor burn injuries reported for one of the homeowners.  A big thank you to fire crews from Plymouth and Middleboro for assisting us at the scene and for station coverage. Overall, 41 CFD Officers and Firefighters, along with Firefighters from Plymouth and Middleboro worked the afternoon fire incident.  The fire is being investigated, but is considered accidental.
